introduction to botanical illustration

Botanical Illustration is looking at the detail of a plants morphology, from its root system to its growing tip, with the use of a hand lens and microscopes where required.

Courses are designed for the mature student from the age of 16 onwards, it is ideal for those interested in art, gardening (or both) or in retirement seeking something new.

Botanical drawing can be done in most medium to give clear illustrations of a plants features, whether in pure graphite, water colour, pen & ink, pen & ink with a colour wash, aqua pencil or colour pencil.

Classes have students from having years of experience with artistic ability to never having drawn before or just keen gardeners. All levels are welcome to these friendly classes.

Work has been exhibited in Stroud galleries and on display at the Rococo gardens.

Occasional day trips are arranged. Listed trips past and future are listed under Events.
